How To Reset Gmail Password Using The Website?

The first way for Gmail Forgot Password Reset is through the Gmail website. Open Gmail in your browser and go to sign in. Type in your email ID and click on Next.

In the password page, Select Forgot Password. Enter the last one you remember having. Then, click Next. If you don’t remember the password, click on the option of trying a different question. You can keep clicking on it until you find a question whose answer you are aware of. Enter the answer and click Next.

Now, you will have to do one of the four things:

Enter an email ID you can access immediately, confirm a text that will be sent to the phone number, a message sent to the email or the recovery email account associated with your email account.

Confirming The Text Or Email

Open the email or text sent to you after you chose the option. You will see a verification code in the mail or message. After you choose the option, you will see a window where you are supposed to enter the code, do that.

Now you will be taken to the page where you will be able to create a new password for your Gmail account. Enter the new password and click on Change Password. Click on Accept or Continue, whichever option you come across. Now, you can log in to your Gmail account.

Use Gmail App For Resetting The Password

To recover the password through the Gmail app, open the app first and click on Add account. On the next page, click on Google. Now, enter your phone number or the email address associated with the account. Click on Next and you will be taken to the password page. Click on Forgot Password.

The remaining process is the same as that on the website. Enter the last password you remember. If you don’t remember any, opt for one of the four options. You will be sent a verification code, enter it on the verification page, and then you can reset your password.

Questions Gmail Asks During The Account Recovery

The questions I am listing here aren’t in the same order they will be asked. But, you should be ready with them before beginning the password reset process to save your time and effort.

The Previous Password

Google can ask you about the last password you remember. If you remember the last one you have used, you will be able to reset the password in a quick and easy manner.

Verification With Code

If you have enabled two-step verification in your account, Google can send you the code through an SMS, the app like Google Authenticator or you could use printed backup codes.

Verification Using The Registered Phone Number

Via Secondary Email Address

If you have a secondary email address listed with your account, you will receive a link in it. Click on the link and you will be taken to the page for creating a new password.

Security Question

Date Of Creation Of Gmail Account

You can also reset the password using the date of creation of your account if you remember.
